On Monday, August 22, 2019 the Hall County Board of Education joined with the Johnson High School community to cut the ribbon on an expanded band room and new practice field house for the soccer and football programs.
Pettitt, a 2011 graduate of Johnson High, thanked former Board Member Brian Sloan for his support of the project in its early phase and Hall County School district staff for their management of the project. Sloan, served on the Board of Education from 2007-2018.
The Johnson High Administration, which includes Stan Lewis, Jonathan Edwards, Cathryn Sawyer, Tim Rogers and Tony Wagner, are diligent each day in preparing the next generation of Knights to be honest, respectful, personally responsible, and to use their talents to make a positive difference.
"As a former student athlete and little league coach on these very fields, I can say with certainty that these improvements were much needed and well received. I believe it takes a village to raise a child. Johnson was the village that raised me, and I am so grateful for that."
The Hall County Board of Education has once again cut the tax rate for property owners. The new tax rate is the lowest since 2004 and one of the lowest in Georgia.
